Directive 2011/93/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 December 2011 on combating the sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children and child pornography, and replacing Council Framework Decision 2004/68/JHA

Title (original language): Radio och tvlag (2010:696)

The Directive covers prosecuting offenders, protecting victims and preventing offences as well as blocking and taking down websites that hold and distribute child sexual abuse material. The Commission is working closely with EU Member States to make sure that the directive is implemented fully. The Commission is assessing if this text solves all the issues it was meant to solve or if there are new issues, for instance because of the big technological changes of the last ten years. Since December 2021, the Commission has been studying how EU countries are working with the Directive, if there is a need to update the legislation or if the current laws need to be put in practice more efficiently, including through better coordination and funding.
