This country participates in the SIC+ (Safer Internet Centre plus) programme to share knowledge and good practices based on Europe’s experiences. It does not receive EU co-funding.
About the organisation
The CMRPI is a specialised centre in cybersecurity, digital transformation, and online protection. Since 2021, it has been operating the EMC Helpline, a national assistance line dedicated to supporting children and young people facing online risks. The CMRPI collaborates closely with key stakeholders in online protection in Morocco — including government bodies, civil society organisations, and major digital and social media platforms, acting as a trusted partner.
As the national Safer Internet Day (SID) Committee in Morocco since 2018, the CMRPI leads awareness and training initiatives to promote safer online practices.
Awareness centre
The level of awareness of a safer and better internet in Morocco has significantly increased thanks to the initiatives of the CMRPI. Through the Safer Internet Day (SID) initiative, the EMC Helpline, and extensive educational campaigns, the centre has strengthened the understanding of online risks among children, youth, and parents. In partnership with the Ministry of National Education, government bodies, civil society, and digital platforms, it contributes to building a national culture of responsible and secure internet use.
By participating in the SIC+ programme, Morocco aims to share experiences and best practices, alongside exchanging awareness-raising and training resources. It is especially interested in using the knowledge and contacts gained through SIC+ to expand the EMC Youth network, strengthening young people's roles as Safer Internet Day (SID) Ambassadors nationwide, and promoting a safer and more responsible internet in Morocco.
Helpline
The EMC Helpline implements awareness programmes in schools and among youth, develops educational resources, and trains teachers. It also engages EMC Youth, adopting a peer-to-peer awareness approach; these young ambassadors of Safer Internet Day in Morocco actively promote a safer and more responsible internet, strengthening the engagement of schools and local communities in digital well-being.
Hotline
The EMC Helpline currently handles reports of cyberviolence on social media and collaborates with the IWF (Internet Watch Foundation) to remove online child sexual abuse content. EMC is also a trusted partner of Meta and TikTok. In parallel, it conducts awareness campaigns and develops projects to strengthen prevention efforts and promote a safer, more responsible internet. Currently, the EMC Helpline is also expanding the EMC Helpline for women to better address gender-related issues.
Youth participation
The implementation of EMC Youth activities has been improving year by year, with young people fully engaged in school-based awareness programmes, communication campaigns, and peer-to-peer initiatives to promote a safer and more responsible internet use. We are currently working to expand the EMC Youth network nationwide, so participants can serve as Safer Internet Day (SID) Ambassadors across all regions of Morocco.
