About our SID activities
M’Lop Tapang is excited to celebrate Safer Internet Day 2025 with activities focused on promoting online safety for children and youth. In the lead-up to the event, we’ll run a countdown social media campaign, sharing daily tips and messages about staying safe online. The event will feature special guest speakers, including key local government members and a representative from APLE, who will share insights on creating safer digital spaces. We’re also engaging the local community to support and participate, making it a collaborative effort. Together, we can help build a safer internet for everyone!
What we are doing to create a better internet...
M’Lop Tapang is committed to creating a safer internet by providing online safety awareness and education at multiple levels of the community. We deliver training sessions at public schools to educate children and youth about the risks and dangers they may encounter online, empowering them with the knowledge to stay safe. We also engage parents through dedicated workshops, helping them understand online risks and equipping them with tools to support their children in navigating the digital world safely. Additionally, we conduct awareness training for local authorities, ensuring they are informed and able to take an active role in promoting internet safety within the community. By working together—children, parents, and local leaders—we aim to build a safer and more responsible online environment for everyone.
About us
In 2003 M’Lop Tapang (MT) was created by a small group of foreigners and locals. It began as a simple initiative to feed and offer safety to six children who slept under a large Tapang tree on the beach every night, and who were extremely vulnerable to exploitation, but quickly blossomed into a much wider program.
Today we work with over 5,000 children, youth and families in the Sihanoukville area, providing disadvantaged children and families access to the learning tools, specialised services, resources, and opportunities they need to build a better future.
As M’Lop Tapang continues to grow the purpose of the organisation remains to provide protection, just as the tree provided protection to those young children years ago who sheltered under its branches.
