Better Internet for Kids

Informative material for parents to provide information on what is sexting, why young people do it and what the risks may be and how to discuss the topic with their child.

An educational material for students, teachers as well as for parents. The web resource provides information about various lies, propaganda and manipulation in order to better recognize them. The material consists of explanatory texts, references to useful material and self-tests. The material is intended for use in teaching as well as for independent study.
The works submitted to the student competition “Hunt for Lies” have been used in compiling and illustrating the test.

The use of social media has increased sharply in recent years, but such use comes with some risks. The Cyber-Social Citizen MOOC describes the main social media to highlight best practice in their use to improve cybersecurity and help ensure user privacy. The online MOOC was designed based on up-to-date literature, social needs identified in the field, and data from recent research. The course is free of charge and is aimed at citizens over 14 years old.

The game contains 57 symbols that represent terms from the field of information technology and cyber security. The meaning of all terms is briefly explained in the attached glossary. For example, children will learn what digital footprint, hoax, cyber grooming is, but also why they should regularly update software or use an antivirus program. Next, they will get acquainted with Safer Internet Day. It is also good to know that children can always turn to our Safety Line project partner with confidence.

We have prepared a guide with settings on the Digital Wellbeing for both Android and iOS.

Smartphones and tablets with Android or iOS operating systems (iPhone, iPad) are constantly flooding us with information and alerts. As this is disruptive and has a detrimental effect on wellbeing, concentration and learning or working, both operating systems have digital wellbeing settings that should be brought to the widest possible audience.
Disseminated via Safe.si website as well as through social networking sites, such as Facebook and Instagram.

The awareness-raising campaign, #StopChildAbuse, aims to stop and prevent the sexual abuse and exploitation of children on the Internet. This campaign has been developed alongside a group of experts in the framework of the EU project 4NSEEK (Forensic Against Sexual Exploitation of Children). It has various materials for dissemination, such as blog entries, infographics, graphs and videos, as well as a guide aimed primarily at professionals working in child-related fields, and an educational activity to do in classes.

During the months of April - June 2021, we gradually published the motto of 7 members of our Youth Panel on the Instagram profile @bezpecnenanetu. The aim was to present our initiative as a part of the Safer Internet Centre CZ project and to further publish young people's views on today's Internet. In addition, we published where the panelists come from, what school they are studying and what their interests are. Their varied after school activities can also serve as an inspiration for today's youngsters, how to spend their free time meaningfully.

The Media Council for Children and Young People and Save the Children Denmark have collaborated with the SIC DK National Youth Panel to create this teaching material on online communities. It has been created for the 7th-9th grade in Danish schools.

The goal of the teaching material is to help students recognize and understand dynamics in online communities, so that they can better contribute in making healthier communities and react and ask for help, if the communities become unhealthy.
