Better Internet for Kids

From games in the classroom to e-learning; digital media makes learning more fun and more effective. But how do you deal with privacy and reliability?

This thematic dossier offers tips on how to get the most out of e-learning. It provides an overview of the possibilities and risks associated with online learning, recommends different products and services and more.

Following our very well-received SID 2021 event (around 4000 live participants on the D-day) and in order to support parents over the long term, we have reworked the format of the video (around 2.5 hours of conference) by dividing it into 8 thematic formats of 15 to 20 minutes. Indeed we wanted to capitalize on the contents spread that day to allow the maximum number of parents to be involved afterwards by offering them access to shortened contents.

On the occasion of Safer Internet Day 2021, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, we experimented for the first time with a conference format open to all: a videoconference. The flexibility of this format allows parents with limited time to tune in only to hear the speakers they are interested in, or even to simply replay at their convenience when they are more available.

We are actively working on the production of interactive resources, promoting parent-child dialogue. With this in the background, we have designed an interactive quiz where parents and children are invited to take turns answering a series of questions on their knowledge and practices of social networks. By comparing the answers, the game highlights the points on which the parents' and children's uses or opinions agree or differ... which sometimes leads to lively debates!

A curriculum of training workshops on digital culture and programming. As part of this series of workshops, TRALALERE offers children aged 10 and over the opportunity to discover the basics of computer programming with fun and educational content! This course was produced by TRALALERE in partnership with Image'IN, the media education center of the Oise Teaching League, for educational purposes :

Take a critical look at the image is a course on image analysis for elementary school pupils. This course is based on the work of Rose-Marie-Farinella, an elementary school teacher, specialised in fake news analysis.
This course allows to acquire all the reflexes to decrypt images : source, framing, edit, optical illusion, caption.
The objectives are:
-To learn how to look at an image with a critical eye.
-To learn how to observe an image to contextualise it.
-To understand that an image, by its composition and framing, can influence the message delivered.

Decrypt online information is a course from InfoHunter, a program aimed at high school students from 16 to 18, to teach them how to decrypt online information and separate fact from fiction. This course is based on a false documentary made by Thomas Huchon, a reporter and a specialist of the web, fake news and conspiracy theories.
The objectives are :
-To display knowledge on a particular subject
-To learn how to verify and cross the sources of information in order to understand and take over the journalistic approach

Objectives:
- To confront the parents/children answers ;
- Receive advice on how to better search/compare information on the Internet ;
- Notions of info or intox ;
- To encourage family interaction.

The characters from our animated series Vinz and Lou accompany children from 7 to 12 years old and their parents in a brand new practical guide. Around 5 themes: managing screen time, searching for information on the Internet, watching videos, protecting data, playing video games... it offers information, advice and challenges to be carried out as a family. As well as a special double page for parents full of practical advice to help them better accompany their children in their digital life.
