Better Internet for Kids

The brochure 'Dad, put your phone away!' offers valuable advice to parents and guardians of children aged 10–14 on managing smartphones, tablets and other devices in everyday family life. It is intended for parents, grandparents, other guardians and caregivers of children in foster care. It provides concise, accessible information on topics such as parental role modelling, child-safe devices, screen time, online privacy, and dealing with online dangers and fake news. An overview of support and counselling services is also provided.

Sexuality and sexual violence online are relevant topics for educational professionals, not least because children and young people are often subjected to sexual harassment online. This makes it all the more important to have competent professionals available to answer questions on sexual topics and educate about risks, as well as provide support in cases of sexual violence. This handbook provides support in this area.

From 19-30 May, the ninth annual Media Literacy Weeks took place, during which 473 schools and other institutions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia focused on media literacy. 

Understanding how media work — who owns them, what their interests are, and how content is created — is key to critical thinking and protection against manipulation or disinformation.

The online Guide to the World of Media for educators provides a general introduction to this environment, with a focus on the Czech media landscape. 

The audiovisual lesson, The Dark Side of AI, is based on a 10-minute video addressing risks such as deepfake calls, fraudulent videos, deepnudes, and forming relationships with AI chatbots and digital personas. 

Through expert commentary and real-life examples, the video encourages discussion about digital safety, critical thinking, and the value of real human relationships, as well as empathy and the courage to speak up when something feels wrong. 

It’s easy to forget what real relationships are made of — effort, uncertainty, and vulnerability. But what happens when your “perfect partner” is a machine? Always listens, never complains, and gives you exactly what you want… sounds ideal, right? Or is it a trap?

PPodcast guest is Nora Vlášková, M.A. is a psychotherapist specialising in relationships, infidelity, and personal crises. She originally studied law and worked in criminal justice before transitioning into psychotherapy. She now leads online courses on relationships and is a regular voice in the media. 

For Safer Internet Day 2025, Safer Internet Centre Denmark (SIC DK) chose to put a focus on the rights of children and young people in digital spaces, especially in light of the Digital Services Act (DSA). The main event this year was a conference held in Copenhagen on 26 February 2025. The conference was intended for professionals working with digital rights. 

This publication is an online guide targeted parents of children between the age of 7-12. The guide is a combination of information, guidelines and tips on how to deal with children's online experiences, habits, behavior and privacy. The guide includes animation films and podcasts with children, parents and one of Denmark’s leading media researchers. The guide also contains the latest research on Danish children's media use in facts & figures.

”Children and gaming” is a guide for parents about gaming. It provides insight into the positive elements of gaming as well as the things parents should be aware of and pay attention to.

It covers topics such as in-game purchases, PEGI, language and screen time. Accompanying each theme is informative and explanatory texts, followed by suggestions on how parents can engage in dialogue with their children. 

To mark Safer Internet Day (SID) 2025, INCIBE (part of the Spanish Safer Internet Centre), through Internet Segura for Kids (IS4K), organised a hybrid event (online and in-person) from Valencia. The event featured the workshop “Think, Connect, and Choose Your Path Online”, developed in collaboration with INTEF.
