Insafe Weekly Update

Following the recent call, we are still seeking one further SIC to provide network representation on the BIK Advisory Board. Any SIC wishing to participate shouldcontact Rimaas soon as possible, and by the close of business this Friday, 3 July 2026 at the latest. 

A reminder that the BIK Advisory Board provides the European Commission with a point of exchange on the ongoing implementation and future development of the BIK platform initiative and supports effective relationships between all relevant stakeholders. SIC representation in the BIK Advisory Board is through two co-funded Safer Internet Centre Coordinators, and this representation rotates annually.

A call for evidence for the Action plan on the protection of children against crime has been published. 

Children across the EU face a serious risk of falling victim to crime or being recruited into crime, online and offline. As announced in ProtectEU: a European internal security strategy, the EU will develop an action plan to better protect children against crime in the physical and digital worlds. The plan will present a coherent and comprehensive approach to tackling the different threats children face, outlining a set of guiding principles for EU action centred on the child’s best interests.

The call is open until Monday, 29 June 2026, during which interested parties are warmly invited to submit their input.

SICs are also encouraged to share the call for evidence widely across national networks and with stakeholders to collect a wide range of views and expertise.

The European Commission has launched a targeted consultation to seek feedback on the draft trusted flaggers guidelines under Article 22 of the Digital Services Act (DSA). 

This is a public consultation; as such, SICs are encouraged to share this information with their own contacts and networks.

The consultation will run until the extended deadline of Friday, 10 July 2026. The Commission plans to adopt the guidelines in the second half of 2026.

Open to EU residents aged 13-21, this call invites original digital creations in English that inspire positive action against cyberbullying. Selected entries will be showcased across Europe as part of the #NotOnOurFeed campaign, and the winning submission will win an invitation to attend the Safer Internet Forum 2026 in Brussels.

The call for youth participation in this year's Safer Internet Forum (SIF), taking place in Brussels, Belgium, in December 2026, is ongoing.

Please note that, in line with the requirements of the current BIK project (2025-2027), there are some changes to the youth participant nomination processes. As such, please ensure that you read and follow the detailed application process:

• BIK Youth Panel – open to youth associated with all Insafe network member countries (excluding the UK). Find further details, including information on the application process for the BIK Youth Panel, here. BIK Youth Panel applications can be made until the close of business on Tuesday, 1 September 2026.
• SIF Youth Advisory Group (SIF YAG) – the deadline has now passed; we are no longer accepting applications.

Safer Internet Centres are requested to check and update public profile pages on the BIK public portal. Updates can be submitted via this online form; you will be notified once the changes have been implemented. Please submit your updates by the close of business on Friday, 10 July 2026 (or earlier, if possible).

Please note, this request is directed at all Safer Internet Centres, both currently co-funded and non-co-funded. For non-co-funded SICs, especially, please ensure that any funding information reflects your SIC's current circumstances.
