But when it is someone being sexually exploited or abused, forgetting about the person behind the image is dangerous. 2.2 billion people globally are under the age of 18, making them society's biggest group, and the most vulnerable to online harm.

Safer Internet Day (SID) was held on Tuesday, 11 February 2020 in over 170 countries around the world, united under the slogan of "Together for a better internet". The Spanish Safer Internet Centre (SIC) would like to express its gratitude to the centres, entities and families that participated in all activities held around SID 2020, for their involvement: in Spain, 830 people registered and 2,020 watched the livestream of the central event.

As part of the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) Quality Assurance Programme (QAP), the Insafe-INHOPE Coordination Teams are jointly conducting a set of fourteen country visits to national Safer Internet Centres (SICs) to better understand what is happening in the Member States: monitoring emerging issues and challenges, identifying good practices to be shared, and harvesting the results of the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) policy. On 9-10 March 2023, an in-person cluster meeting with the Bulgarian and Romanian SICs was organised by the Insafe-INHOPE Coordination Team.

ChildSafeNet, together with partner organisations, held a cyber safety awareness event to mark Safer Internet Day (SID) on Tuesday, 11 February 2020, at Patan durbar square area, with the slogan "Together for a better internet". ChildSafeNet, a specialised organisation working to protect children and young people online is the coordinator and promoter of Safer Internet Day in Nepal.
