This research report examines public awareness, knowledge, and expectations regarding the Office of the Ombudsman for Children (Rzecznik Praw Dziecka – RPD) among adult residents in Poland. Commissioned by the RPD and conducted by Danae Sp. z o.o., the study demonstrates that while 91 per cent of respondents recognise the institution, detailed knowledge of its specific legal powers remains moderate (averaging 50 per cent accuracy). Most citizens view the RPD as a vital advocate for children's rights, prioritising protection against violence and youth mental health, yet perceive it as limited in statutory authority and public visibility. The findings highlight the need for enhanced educational outreach regarding children's rights.
Methodology
The study was commissioned by the Office of the Ombudsman for Children in December 2024 by Danae Sp. z o. o. The qualitative study was conducted using focus group interviews (FGI). Four group interviews were conducted: two with individuals working with children and two with individuals interested in socio-political issues. A total of 26 individuals participated in the study. The quantitative section was conducted using CAWI (Computer-Assisted Web Interviewing) technology. The survey was conducted from December 6 to 13, 2024. The sample consisted of 1,077 adult residents of Poland.
