Day for the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse

The United Nations officially recognized this day in 2022 after decades of hard work by survivors, advocates, and allies to increase global awareness of the prevalence of sexual violence against children and mobilize action to prevent violence and support healing and justice for survivors.

Harmonised national laws and international cooperation are essential to improve prevention, protect victims and prosecute perpetrators. The European Day helps to raise awareness to that end.
