PEGI App
The PEGI App allows you to search easily for video game age ratings and read up on parental controls. The database includes the additional consumer information which gives you more details about the rating and the game content. It is now available in 15 languages.
With this app you can:
- Search through the PEGI database for up-to-date video game and app rating classifications.
- Filter results by age rating, genre, and platform to find suitable games for your children.
- Read through detailed instructions on how to set up parental controls on a range of devices.
- Information about family gaming with the national campaigns.
- Read detailed descriptions on what content can be found at each age rating and what the content descriptors mean.
PEGI is well-known among parents
A recent survey carried out on behalf of PEGI s.a. (as part of the GameTrack study) in 2024 shows that PEGI labels are highly recognised by parents with children who play video games. Parents were surveyed across the UK, France, Spain and Italy (+3400 participants). The research also showed that most parents use PEGI information to decide which games to buy for their children.
- Among all parents, 70 per cent are aware of the PEGI age rating labels.
- Among parents with children who play video games, awareness of the PEGI age rating labels rises to 80 per cent.
- Amongst parents aware of PEGI age rating labels, with children that play video games, 67per cent say they apply one or more tools to monitor or limit their child’s gameplay.
What we are doing to create a better internet...
PEGI continues to support Safer Internet Day (SID) and the protection of minors online. In our changing world which is increasingly defined by digital interactions, we continue to encourage the use of parental control tools, age labels and content descriptors when choosing which games to purchase and play. Check out our online safety tips.
PEGI also updated its Code of Conduct with new articles including one specifically on "Safe online gameplay" asking the following requirements to all PEGI signatories :
- Community Standards:
- prohibit players from introducing content or indulging in online behaviour which is illegal and/or harmful.
- ensure that all reasonably practicable precautions are taken to ensure that Online Gameplay Environments that allow text, voice, video chat, or image sharing protect children from access to age-inappropriate content introduced by other players.
- Notification & Removal of Content:
- appropriate notice mechanisms are in place, easy to access, user-friendly
- procedures in place to review notifications of UGC
- Safety Warnings – regular breaks from gameplay
- - Coherent privacy policy – clear language
More details can be found here.
Companies using the PEGI rating system must accept these terms in order to proceed with their rating submissions. Those rules in the Code of Conduct also cover the declaration of the content, responsible advertisement, correct labelling of the products, and so on.
About us
PEGI (Pan European Game Information) is the European age-rating system for video games.
PEGI helps European parents make informed decisions when buying video games. Launched in 2003, PEGI replaced a number of national age rating systems and is now used throughout most of Europe, in 40 countries. The self-regulation is supported by the major console manufacturers as well as by publishers and developers of games that are active in Europe. PEGI was developed by Video Games Europe (The European association representing the video games industry).
The PEGI labels appear on the front and back of a game's packaging, providing a reliable indication of the suitability of the content. The age rating does not take into account the difficulty level or skills required to play a game. There are also eight content descriptors that work in conjunction with the age labels: violence in a PEGI 7 game (e.g. cartoon-style violence) is different from violence in a PEGI 18 game (strong, graphic content).
