Insafe network of Safer Internet Centres in Europe

Profile last updated: January 2025

What we are doing to create a better internet...

About Insafe
Over the years, Safer Internet Day (SID) has become a landmark event in the online safety calendar. Starting as an initiative of the EU SafeBorders project in 2004 and taken up by the Insafe network of European Safer Internet Centres (SICs) as one of its earliest actions in 2005, Safer Internet Day has grown beyond its traditional geographic zone and is now celebrated in approximately 180 countries and territories worldwide, and across six continents. From cyberbullying to social networking, Insafe aims to be at the forefront of emerging online issues each year, reflecting current concerns as part of its wider focus on Better Internet for Kids (BIK) initiatives.

Safer Internet Day 2025 will be marked throughout February, with a global day of celebration on Tuesday, 11 February 2025 when we'll join "Together for a better internet".

We invite you to join us in making SID 2025 the biggest and best Safer Internet Day yet.

Social media campaign
Through our LinkedIn, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) accounts, we disseminate news, events and activities on SID, encouraging others to get involved and celebrate Safer Internet Day. We also promote the activities of the European network of Safer Internet Centres (SICs) and global Safer Internet Day Committees and Supporters to give more visibility to SID activities worldwide.

Get involved in other ways
Safer Internet Centres across Europe strive to keep children and young people safe online through a range of actions and initiatives. Typically comprising an awareness centre, helpline, hotline and youth participation services, Safer Internet Centres provide a wealth of content and services to support children and young people, and those that care for them: parents and carers; teachers, educators and other professionals; and other stakeholders.

Safer Internet Centres provide special activities or resources linked to Safer Internet Day, and coordinate other Safer Internet Day actions in the country. Discover more about your national Safer Internet Centre and connect with its services on the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) public portal.
