About our SID activities
Our goal for SID 2026 is to make Safer Internet Day in Nigeria (SID NIG) a highly collaborative national initiative that promotes responsible, creative, and positive use of the internet by people of all ages. Through education, advocacy, and multi-stakeholder engagement, we aim to make both the internet and the world safer and more empowering spaces for children and young people. SID will be held across several states in Nigeria, including Lagos, Rivers, Benue, Abia, Imo, Kano, and Yola.
We also plan to run a social media campaign to engage our followers and online audience on internet safety. Through SID NIG and our broader digital leadership programmes, ICLDNG contributes to crime prevention, youth empowerment, and national digital resilience, positioning young Nigerians as responsible digital citizens and future leaders rather than perpetrators or victims of online harm.
What we are doing to create a better internet...
Together for a better Internet. Our approach recognises that cybercrime is often driven by a lack of opportunity, awareness, and digital ethics. By promoting positive internet use, we are going to create a better internet by:
- Redirecting the mindset of young people from cybercrime to legitimate digital careers.
- Increase awareness of cyber laws, digital footprints, and legal consequences.
- Instil values of integrity, accountability, and responsible citizenship online.
- Equip youth with employable digital skills to reduce economic pressures that fuel cybercrime.
- Build a culture of ethical technology use aligned with national development and global best practices.
- Launching a Cyber Helpline, with volunteer counsellors and psychologists to provide guidance and counselling to victims of cybercrime.
About us
We build, inspire, and empower teenagers and young people to grow and become better versions of themselves — ultimately becoming true gifts to themselves and the communities they serve. Through structured leadership development, digital literacy, and values-based education, we equip young people with the mindset and skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
We actively partner with local and international individuals, institutions, and organisations to make this transformative change possible. At the core of our work is a deep commitment to rebuilding hope, confidence, and purpose among the next generation of leaders in Nigeria and across Africa.
The International Centre for Leadership Development Nigeria (ICLDNG) is a duly registered non-governmental organisation in Nigeria. ICLDNG is an affiliate of the International Institute for Global Leadership, USA, and holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). To equip the next generation of leaders with the skills and tools which will enable them to realise their full potential and bring sustainable change to their communities.
