About our SID activities
Each February, the Estonian Safer Internet Centre (SIC) celebrates Safer Internet Day (SID) by organising different awareness-raising events and campaigns during the whole month together with different stakeholders at the national level.
The Estonian SIC invites kindergartens, schools, youth centres, and libraries in Estonia to celebrate Safer Internet Day by organising thematic events in their organisations or institutions in February for children and young people to raise their digital and media competencies. Events can be registered on the webpage www.targaltinternetis.ee. After that, they will be placed on the Estonian map.
The Estonian Union for Child Welfare, together with various stakeholders, has compiled awareness-raising materials for children, parents and teachers (lesson plans, videos, guides), which can be used in awareness-raising activities. Also, different case scenarios related to the children´s use of the internet and social media will be published together with useful tips. Materials can be found on the SIC website www.targaltinternetis.ee.
On the Safer Internet Day, Estonian Union for Child Welfare together with University of Tartu and Elisa will organise a conference "From online hate to an AI awareness: Internet risks and opportunities" (Veebivihast tehisaru-teadlikkuseni: interneti võimalused ja riskid). The conference is taking place in the Nordic Hotel Forum Tallinn and can also be viewed online. Registration: www.targaltinternetis.ee.
On Safer Internet Day, Tallinn University of Technology will launch CyberPin 2026, a digital skills online testing event for 1-6 grade students, which is open until 31.03. Also, the results and summary of the CyberNut 2025 testing events will be published.
In the framework of the Safer Internet Day campaign, Estonian SIC will publish thematic videos for children and parents about online risks with tips about how to act and where to seek advice and help.
In February, thematic webinars for teachers and parents will also be organised. More information coming soon.
What we are doing to create a better internet...
This year, we are focusing on cooperation and dialogue with children and young people about their online experiences. It is important to have open discussions about their life online, what they like to do, which apps they like most and why, which risks and challenges they have encountered online, and how they have solved them, etc. The Estonian SIC published awareness-raising material which contains different tools for that - games, videos, interactive tests, etc. We encourage teachers and parents to use them and have meaningful discussions with children and young people, which contribute to the mutual learning and cooperation.
About us
The Estonian Safer Internet Centre´s mission is to promote a safer and better use of the internet and digital technologies among children, parents and teachers.

- The Education and Youth Authority conducts awareness-raising activities (webinars, educational resources for teachers and students, etc.).
- Tallinn University of Technology carries out awareness-raising activities (cybersecurity testing events in schools, educational materials for teachers and students, etc.);
- The Estonian Social Insurance Board (which operates Child Helpline 116111) provides help and counselling for children and parents if problems emerge in the use of the Internet and digital media devices, and participates in awareness-raising activities.
