Safer Internet Centre Slovenia

Profile last updated: March 2025

About our SID activities

In 2025, on Safer Internet Day (SID), the Slovenian Awareness Centre SAFE.SI will draw attention to various aspects of artificial intelligence. Throughout February 2025, a mix of promotional and educational activities will be conducted to raise awareness of this crucial issue.

SID 2025 celebrations in Slovenia will be supported by national governmental institutions, such as the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Digital Transformation. Various online and offline materials, including leaflets and posters about artificial intelligence for parents and young people, will be produced, published, and disseminated. It is expected that these posters will be distributed to Slovenian primary and secondary schools.

The central SIC event will take place on 12 February 2025. The conference will bring together teachers and other school professionals working with children, focusing on presenting the challenges of artificial intelligence to the attendees. A webinar for parents on the same topic will also be held in February 2025.

For SID 2025, we will continue our tradition and expand Safer Internet Day into Safer Internet Month. We are offering schools in Slovenia the opportunity to register to participate in the SID celebrations. After registering, teachers and schools will receive a toolkit with classroom activities and a badge to promote SID on their school website.

To assess the knowledge of internet safety among children and young people, the Slovenian Awareness Centre will develop and implement an online survey focusing mainly on various aspects of artificial intelligence from the youngsters’ point of view. Questions related to the Digital Services Act (DSA) that might be connected to artificial intelligence will also be included. The survey will be distributed to the target groups through the online SID package for schools as part of the Safer Internet Month celebrations in February 2025. Specifically designed questionnaires will be tailored for pupils in the last triad of primary school and secondary school (children and young people aged 12 to 19).

We will also launch various campaigns on Facebook, X and Instagram, encouraging our followers to actively engage in discussions and share their views and opinions. Additionally, we will run a series of training sessions for parents and teachers, as well as workshops for pupils and secondary school students.

What we are doing to create a better internet...

The Slovenian Safer Internet Centre (SIC) makes great efforts to reach as many schools from different Slovenian regions and include them in as many different activities as possible. We organise face-to-face workshops and seminars for pupils and students as well as their parents. We regularly organise competitions for schools and all schools receive an invitation to join the competition. Every year, the Slovenian awareness centre encourages schools to prepare their own activities for Safer Internet Day (SID).

To encourage participation effectively, we prepare a SID Toolkit each year, which includes lesson plans with activities for different age groups, decision trees, leaflets, videos and other interesting tools that can be used in the classroom.

We also create a map of schools involved in SID to show that all regions of the country are covered.
