About our SID activities
Safer Internet Centre Sweden will celebrate Safer Internet Day on 10 February 2026 and continue to do so throughout the whole month. We will arrange and contribute to activities targeted directly to children and young people as well as social workers, civil society organisations, government agencies, teachers, parents and other professionals working with children and young people.
Two of our main events are a webinar on children’s online strategies and a roundtable discussion on internet and democracy arranged by our youth panel. Besides our own events, Safer Internet Centre Sweden encourages all actors, from schools to civil society organisations, to join in with the Safer Internet Day celebrations to spread awareness on children's well-being online during the whole month of February
Webinar on children’s strategies online
One main event 2026 is a webinar discussing children's and young people’s online strategies. The Swedish Agency for the Media will launch a report based on interviews with children and young people on strategies related to online risks such as harmful content, contact and conduct, as well as other related issues. The report will be presented during the webinar followed by panel discussions with representatives from Bris, who operates the national helpline, Ecpat, who operates the national hotline, the Safer Internet Centre youth panel and other experts on the topic.

The youth panel will arrange a roundtable discussion
For Safer Internet Day, the Safer Internet Centre youth panel will arrange a roundtable discussion with and for youth on the topic of the internet and democracy. The invited youth representatives will discuss these issues, offer suggestions for solutions, and share ideas on how the internet can be better for youth.

What we are doing to create a better internet...
The Safer Internet Centre spreads awareness and provides direct support to children and young people, as well as parents and professionals. This is through the operations of the Swedish Agency for the Media (awareness centre), Bris (helpline) and ECPAT (hotline).
The Swedish Agency for the Media promotes positive online experiences by developing and distributing educational resources to children and young people, parents and carers, and professionals such as teachers, librarians, and social workers. Bris provides advice and support to children and parents on online-related issues and data on the challenges children and youth face online. And ECPAT allows citizens to anonymously report child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and child sexual exploitation material (CSEM) and operate the hotline in accordance with best practice guidelines.
Safer Internet Centre Sweden is working to strengthen and support children and young people in their use of digital media. The Swedish Agency for the Media, Bris, and ECPAT gather external actors and expertise to collect and disseminate knowledge nationally through networks and conferences. This includes facilitating the hearing of children’s and young people’s own perspectives through interview studies, school visits, and the youth panel.
