About our SID activities
At Yubo, we are dedicated to fostering a safer online environment for Gen Z users. For Safer Internet Day 2025, we will continue to showcase our commitment to online safety by highlighting the critical role of proactive safety measures and cutting-edge technology in shaping a safer digital space for young people.
We will also continue our collaboration with international safety organisations, such as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), Thorn, and the Diana Award, to align our policies with the latest global standards for youth protection. We continue to be actively engaged with public- and private-sector stakeholders to develop best practices and standards for online safety, exemplified by our involvement in creating the Yubo-AFNOR Spec policy document and our milestone achievement of becoming the first major social platform in the world to age-verify 100 per cent of our users.
What we are doing to create a better internet...
By proactively prioritising user safety and applying a combination of technological innovation and human oversight, we are playing an important role in shaping the future of social platforms and setting new standards for trust & safety online.
Our layered user safety infrastructure begins with platform-wide age verification using privacy-by-design methods and the oversight of trained Safety Specialists. This initiative, a proactive investment implemented more than two years ago, has been pivotal in building trust among users, mitigating safety risks, and exemplifying the benefits of age assurance on social media.
Beyond age assurance, we have implemented a range of tools to enforce our in-depth community guidelines, which are designed to combat otherwise commonplace harms historically seen in online spaces, such as harassment or hate speech. We monitor all livestreams in real time using both technology and human monitoring and have in place an efficient system for assessing, responding to, and/or escalating potential safety concerns in the interest of promoting the wellbeing of users across Yubo.
Additionally, our recent innovations, such as SafeBlur, provide automated protection against harmful content in private conversations, ensuring that users experience the same level of safety in one-on-one chats as they do in public interactions. Through these proactive measures and constant collaboration with global safety experts, Yubo sets a standard for what a safer internet should look like, supporting Safer Internet Day’s mission to create a better, more secure online world for everyone.
About us
Yubo is a social discovery app that makes it easy for Gen Z to make new friends and hang out online. By eliminating likes and follows, we empower young people to show up as their true selves and form genuine connections. Safety has always been a cornerstone of Yubo. We are committed to a safety-by-design approach to ideating and developing all features and policies that make up our platform, whose evolution has been supported and closely guided by our Safety Board. This group of experts, whose experience ranges from trust & safety to mental health to law enforcement, includes respected leaders from such organisations as the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), Thorn, and the Diana Award. Founded in France in 2015, more than 80 million users across more than 140 countries have joined Yubo to date.
