Video Games Europe

Profile last updated: February 2025

About our SID activities

As an industry, we are committed to the protection of minors - it’s in our DNA. Europe's video game companies constantly strive to enable young players to enjoy their games in a positive environment. We provide parents tools on games and consoles and the Pan European Gaming Information system (PEGI), which is used in 40 countries across Europe, that provides information at the point of purchase on the age appropriateness of a game's content. Furthermore, we run a yearly public awareness campaign that shares tips and resources with parents, caregivers, and educators to discuss with their children and students on responsible gameplay and agree on ground rules that works for everyone. The 5 tips from the campaign: Seize the controls

What we are doing to create a better internet...

We encourage all parents, guardians and educators to check check video games' PEGI rating and learn about parents tools which helps families manage online interaction, playtime, spending, and access to age-appropriate video games. PEGI age rating and content descriptors are best-in-class examples of co- and self-regulation that enable measures for the protection of minors to keep up with the fast-moving industry and game innovations.

We also encourage families to play games together and start a conversation on children's online activities. Research shows that families who play together and/or take the time to discuss video gameplay with their children have the fewest arguments and reap the greatest benefits from play.

Be informed in your language! The video games industry also provides easy-to-use resources by country, which are in local languages.
