About our SID activities

European Schoolnet promotes online safety and digital literacy through different projects and initiatives. Some of these include the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) (2025-2027) initiative, Safer Internet Daydigi.well – A whole school approach to well-being in a digital worldPERMA-Digital, Cyberkind and WINDEE (Well-being in digital education ecosystem). Alongside these digital citizenship projects and activities, European Schoolnet runs a Digital Citizenship Working Group with its Ministries of Education, to steer its digital citizenship roadmap, provide a platform for exchange between network members, identify gaps, and explore new areas of work.

What we are doing to create a better internet...

At European Schoolnet, we believe that digital and media literacy enables children and young people to become critical thinkers, to actively analyse, evaluate and create media messages, and to act responsibly in an online environment.

Since 2006, European Schoolnet has been a key player in the responsible use of the internet and mobile technologies, while also coordinating the Insafe network of Safer Internet Centres under a series of Safer Internet Programmes.

One of the main pillars of our work is digital well-being and online safety. As such, European Schoolnet coordinates the above-mentioned projects to contribute to emerging political priorities, such as protecting the mental health of young people online, and combating cyberbullying and the unethical techniques used by online platforms and services. Furthermore, European Schoolnet publishes evidence from policy, research and practices on these topics, and offers policy recommendations and explore innovative models to involve a wider range of stakeholders in a whole-school approach to tackle cyberbullying and promote well-being in the digital world.

About us

Our mission is to support ministries of education, schools, teachers and any stakeholder involved in the transformation of education processes in Europe to improve the quality of education for all. European Schoolnet represents the voice and interests of its members – a network of ministries of education and national agencies from more than 30 European countries – and offers them a space to debate, exchange best practices, learn from each other, and collaborate to find common solutions to key societal challenges impacting education.
