About our SID activities
On this Safer Internet Day (2026), COFACE Families Europe is calling on providers of social media platforms to make sure that their platforms are safe, secure and respect people’s privacy and human rights. The European Union and its Member States must play a key role in holding these companies to account if they fail to do so. This includes implementing and enforcing strong regulations, such as the Digital Services Act (DSA), but also the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which are currently at risk of being undermined by the proposed Digital Omnibus Regulation.

What we are doing to create a better internet...
COFACE Families Europe’s aim is to ensure that digitalisation and new technological developments serve the general interest of all European citizens, support families and respect the rights of children. COFACE works closely with the EU institutions, other organisations, and key ICT industries to promote children's rights online. This is done through a whole-family lens, advocating for regulation and education tools to empower children and their families in the digital environment.
Additionally, COFACE member organisations have extensive experience in advocating for and supporting families on different levels. Among other things, they contribute to developing safer and more empowering online experiences for families. Some COFACE members' practices focus on boosting skills and opportunities related to the use of digital technologies for children and their families. Other practices focus more on preventing and tackling specific challenges, such as violent gaming content, cyberbullying and child sexual abuse online.
About us
Founded in 1958 and with 50+ member organisations in 25 European countries, COFACE Families Europe is a network which represents millions of families, volunteers, and professionals. COFACE advocates for strong social policies that take into consideration family needs and guarantee equal opportunities for all families. Our area of work includes social and family policy, education, disability rights, gender equality, children's rights, migration, consumer issues, as well as the impact of technological developments on families.
