About our SID activities

Internet Day 2025: A step toward a safer digital future

As part of the MKSafeNet initiative, the Ministry of Digital Transformation hosted Safer Internet Day 2025, a major step in our journey toward establishing a national Safer Internet Centre (SIC).

Key Activities:

  •  Art contest: Over 300 students from grades 1 to 9 participated, using creative expression to reflect on safe internet practices.
  • Minister’s keynote speech: The Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to digital safety and the SIC’s development.
  • Educational workshops: Students engaged in interactive sessions on cyberbullying prevention, online privacy, and responsible social media use.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Educators, policymakers, and IT experts discussed next steps for the SIC’s development.
  • Awareness through entertainment: The event concluded with an engaging performance by singer Paјak, reinforcing safety messages in a fun way.

This event is one of many ongoing initiatives under MKSafeNet. It plays a vital role in building public awareness, fostering partnerships, and gathering insights that will shape the final structure of the SIC.

What we are doing to create a better internet...

At MKSafeNet, our mission is to create a safer, more inclusive digital world, with a key focus on establishing a national Safer Internet Centre (SIC) by the end of the project.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, we are actively working on:

  • Expanding digital literacy programs to equip students, parents, and educators with safe internet practices.
  • Building the national SIC framework, integrating helplines, awareness campaigns, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Strengthening partnerships with schools, private sector stakeholders, and policymakers to ensure sustainable support for digital safety.
  • Hosting ongoing events like SID 2025, which serve as crucial milestones in the SIC’s development.

By continuing these efforts, we pave the way for the official launch of North Macedonia’s first Safer Internet Centre—providing a long-term support system for children, parents, and educators.

About us

mksafenet logo

North Macedonia currently lacks an officially established Safer Internet Centre (SIC). However, through MKSafeNet, the Ministry of Digital Transformation is actively working to create the necessary foundational infrastructure for a comprehensive SIC.

As part of this effort, we successfully organized Safer Internet Day 2025, engaging over 567 students, educators, and key stakeholders in a nationwide awareness campaign. This event is one of many initiatives designed to lay the groundwork for the future SIC by building awareness, improving digital skills, and fostering cross-sector collaboration.

MKSafeNet’s mission remains focused on:

  • Enhancing access to age-appropriate content and online safety tools
  • Empowering individuals to recognize and report online risks
  • Strengthening national digital safety policies in line with Digital Europe - HaDEA

The ultimate goal is to establish North Macedonia’s first Safer Internet Centre (SIC) by the end of the project, ensuring sustainable and long-term support for children, parents, and educators in the digital space.
