About our SID activities
APIGA India 2026 was successfully hosted by O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) in collaboration with the India Internet Research Organisation (IIRO) as a two-day capacity development workshop focused on internet governance and digital policy issue(s) at the Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi.
The localised initiative brought together diverse stakeholders from the internet governance ecosystem, including youth leaders, academics, civil society/government representatives, industry experts, and policymakers, to discuss emerging digital challenges and strengthen collaborative engagement.
What we are doing to create a better internet...
Through dynamic workshops, real-world simulations, and expert-led sessions, we are empowering young people to become informed and responsible netizens in line with the Safer Internet Day slogan, “Together for a better internet".
Our initiative focuses on building awareness around internet governance, digital rights, cybersecurity, and online safety while encouraging meaningful youth participation in policy and advocacy spaces. By promoting a multi-stakeholder approach, we create opportunities for collaboration between youth, educators, civil society, and digital experts to address today’s online challenges collectively.
Further, we aim to foster a safer, more inclusive, and rights-based digital environment where young voices are heard, informed decision-making is encouraged, and everyone contributes to building a better, more secure internet for all.
About us
The Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA) is a prestigious capacity development initiative conducted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in partnership with the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). APIGA aims to nurture understanding, awareness, and engagement on critical internet governance issue(s), particularly within the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, by equipping participants with knowledge of digital policy processes, Internet infrastructure, cybersecurity, and the multistakeholder model of governance.
Building upon this regional initiative, Local APIGA India (recognised and supported by ICANN) was established to create a dedicated platform for tertiary undergraduate and graduate students, youth leaders, and early-career researchers in India to explore the evolving landscape of Internet governance and digital cooperation.
The programme focuses on enhancing participants’ understanding of ICANN policies, internet governance frameworks, digital rights, cybersecurity challenges, and inclusive policymaking processes.
