About our SID activities
We celebrate Safer Internet Day in the Czech Republic not only on February 10 but throughout the entire month of February. This year, we emphasise the theme of digital footprints, particularly children’s nudity in the online space and its impact on children’s mental health. We have prepared a variety of activities for different target groups.
- Parents – We offer a free webinar with experienced lecturers from the hotline and helpline, presenting the risks of sexting and guiding parents on how to communicate sensitively with their children if they find themselves in an uncomfortable situation.
- Vulnerable groups – We offer a free webinar for children’s home staff focused on sexting and respectful communication with children.
- Schools – We have prepared tips for recommended teaching materials on cybersecurity and media literacy that teachers can easily use. We also offer several seminars for educators. In addition, there will be a campaign focusing on digital footprints in elementary and secondary schools, using digital information screens available in schools.
- Media and partners – In cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic, we are organising an informal event for journalists, influencers, and media focused on children’s nudity online and sexting. The programme will include the presentation of results from the largest research study in this field in the Czech Republic, case studies from the hotline, and recommendations for parents on how to minimise children’s digital footprints.
What we are doing to create a better internet...
We offer a series of educational activities, including workshops and seminars for students, teachers, and parents on digital safety topics, awareness campaigns to promote responsible internet use, collaboration with international partners through the Insafe and INHOPE networks to share best practices and insights, and strengthening our helpline services to provide support for children at risk.
About us
The Safer Internet Center of the Czech Republic (SIC CZ) is a shared activity of four organisations that have decided to direct their knowledge, skills, energy and passion in favour of a safer internet for children and youth. Since 2019, the coordinator of SIC CZ has been the CZ.NIC Association, other partners are the Safety Line (LB), the Children's Crisis Center (DKC) and JSNS (educational programme of the People in Need organisation).
