Center for Missing and Exploited Children Croatia - Croatian Safer Internet Centre

Profile last updated: January 2026

About our SID activities

The Center for Safer Internet (CSI) currently operates in three cities: Zagreb, Osijek, and Split. This year, Safer Internet Day will be marked in each city, in addition to the central event in Zagreb, ensuring that our activities reach a wide audience across the country.

The Zagreb office is marking Safer Internet Day in February by co-hosting the conference Together for a Better Internet in partnership with HAKOM and CARNET. The conference will take place in Zagreb on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, with the aim of highlighting the importance of creating a safe and supportive digital environment for children and young people. Through expert presentations and panel discussions, the conference will address key topics such as the prevention of cyberbullying, protection of children’s personal data, access to high-quality online content, and the shared responsibility for fostering responsible digital behaviour. The conference is youth-led and co-created with children and young people, clearly recognising them not only as users who need protection, but as active stakeholders in shaping a safer internet.

The Osijek office will also mark Safer Internet Day locally by organising an event at a primary school in the Osijek area. A lecture will be delivered to all school counsellors, teachers, and teaching staff, focusing on distinguishing peer conflict from violence, appropriate responses to cases of cyberbullying, effective ways of communicating with children in such situations, and an overview of the most common online risks children face today. Following the training, a quiz will be held for students in the upper grades, with questions covering general knowledge about online safety and appropriate ways to respond, and featuring valuable prizes.

The Split office will also mark Safer Internet Day locally by organising an event at a primary school. The focus will be on primary prevention activities for both students and teachers, including educational sessions and a quiz designed to raise awareness about online safety and responsible digital behaviour.

Through this approach, CSI reaches nearly the entire country, making its Safer Internet Day activities widely accessible to children, teachers, and school communities across Croatia.

On Safer Internet Day itself, an online quiz for children will be available (more information can be found on our website: dansigurnijeginterneta.org). Throughout February, we have planned multiple online lectures (webinars) for professionals and parents and the release of additional educational materials.
