About our SID activities
For Safer Internet Day 2026, the Safer Internet Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to implement a comprehensive set of awareness-raising, educational and participatory activities, with a strong focus on children, young people, parents and educators.
The central activity marking Safer Internet Day will be the national online quiz, recognised as one of the largest educational online quizzes for children in the country. The quiz has an educational and competitive character and is designed to enable children to learn, in a fun and interactive way, how to recognise online risks and protect themselves in the digital environment. Rather than focusing solely on competition and prizes, the primary goal of the quiz is to strengthen digital literacy, critical thinking and safe online behaviour among children and young people.
During the celebration of Safer Internet Day 2025, the online quiz achieved record-breaking results, with more than 29,624 children participating across Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through the accompanying social media campaign, key online safety messages reached over 1,000,000 people. Since the first celebration of Safer Internet Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2014, more than 158,409 children have gained knowledge on the safe use of digital technologies through participation in the quiz, with the support of the Safer Internet Center.
In preparation for Safer Internet Day 2026, a series of informative and educational activities will be implemented in advance of the quiz, including presentations, school-based sessions and awareness-raising actions aimed at children and young people. These activities will be supported by continuous online communication and
promotion through the Center’s digital platforms and social media channels, including www.sigurnodijete.ba and www.mfs-emmaus.ba, ensuring broad outreach and sustained engagement.
Following the online quiz, the Safer Internet Center will organise a ceremonial event to mark Safer Internet Day, including the announcement of quiz winners, the awarding of prizes, and the presentation of certificates ofappreciation to partners and sponsors. The event will also feature a panel discussion on child protection in the digital environment, with each year addressing a specific thematic focus. For Safer Internet Day 2026, the planned focus is expected to be on artificial intelligence and emerging digital risks, reflecting current trends andchallenges affecting children and young people online.
What we are doing to create a better internet...
Together for a better internet means working collaboratively to ensure that children and young people can explore, learn and participate online in a safe, respectful and empowering digital environment.
Through the Safer Internet Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we combine education, prevention, support and cooperation to address online risks and strengthen digital resilience. By delivering educational programmes, awareness-raising campaigns and interactive activities such as our national online quiz, we empower children and young people with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the digital world safely.
At the same time, our Helpline and Hotline services provide accessible and confidential support, enabling users to seek advice, report concerns and contribute to the removal of harmful and illegal online content. We work closely with parents, educators, public institutions, civil society, law enforcement and international partners to ensure a coordinated and effective response to online harm.
By promoting digital literacy, critical thinking, responsible use of technology and respect for children’s rights online, we actively contribute to building a safer and more inclusive internet. Through collective action and shared responsibility, we support the Safer Internet Day vision of a digital environment where children and young people are protected, informed and empowered — together for a better internet.
