Argentina Safer Internet Day Committee - Chicos.net

Profile last updated: January 2026

About our SID activities

We join the global celebration of Safer Internet Day 2026 with a theme of: “Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI.”

In Argentina, mothers and fathers are increasingly expressing interest—and also concern—about how their children use artificial intelligence. While they feel responsible for their children's digital education, they also recognise the need to better understand these technologies in order to support them.

To respond to this demand, Chicos.net has developed several resources:

  • AI AT HOME
A guide to reflect on artificial intelligence within the family and address the most frequently asked questions: What is AI, and how is it used? What do children and teenagers use it for? Can it affect their creativity? What happens if they perceive AI as a “friend”?

  • Chicos.net Podcast – AI Special
AI at Home is a podcast where we explore how artificial intelligence is changing the daily lives of families. Over four episodes, we reflect on these changes and, together with specialists, offer tools to support parenting in this new landscape.

Each episode covers topics such as: children's emotional connection with chatbots; misinformation and the challenge of developing critical thinking skills; the use of AI at school and at home; limits, screen time, and digital well-being.

  • “Ping-Prompt”: an educational video game
We developed an interactive video game that invites teenagers and young adults to have fun while learning to create effective prompts and understand how AI interprets their descriptions.

Families expressed their concern about AI, but also about the amount of time children and teenagers spend in front of screens. Therefore, it is essential to promote creativity, critical thinking, and communication at home. Within this framework, we developed:

  • “Family Vacation” Guide
A document full of activities that encourage active and creative use of technology, with suggestions for making the most of free time through collaborative projects that bridge generational gaps.

Together with the Inter-American Children's Institute (IIN-OAS), we will be launching a series of webinars to promote reflection and regional exchange on the rights of children and adolescents in digital environments.

The initiative will take place during February and will bring together families and leaders in the field of children's and adolescents' rights to share perspectives, experiences, and best practices. The goal is to continue strengthening a safer, more inclusive, and participatory digital citizenship, placing the digital well-being of children and young people at the centre.

To continue promoting safe digital environments, we believe it is essential to listen to the voices of children and young people themselves. In 2025, we launched the Disconnect Challenge, an invitation to children and adolescents throughout Latin America to spend 24 hours without screens and reflect on mental health and digital well-being. During the 2026 Digital Integrity Week (SID), we will share a Special Report analysing this valuable experience and its main lessons learned.

What we are doing to create a better internet...

To create a better internet, we empower children, teenagers, and young adults to use digital media critically and creatively. We also support families with digital parenting resources and educators at all levels with teacher training programmes and activities for students.

About us

Chicos.net is a non-profit civil organisation that promotes the rights of children and young people in digital environments.

It works from a rights-based approach in Argentina and the region so that children and young people can exercise full digital citizenship, playing an active, critical, and creative role in a safe and violence-free environment.

We believe that they have much to say, and that as inhabitants of the digital ecosystem, it is essential to provide them with the tools to participate in this space, protect themselves, and express themselves freely.
