SIC+ programme: Ukraine - Magnolia

This country participates in the SIC+ (Safer Internet Centre plus) programme to share knowledge and good practices based on Europe’s experiences. It does not receive EU co-funding.

About the organisation

The NGO “Magnolia” was founded in 2001 as a public initiative by a group of journalists who have teamed up in order to protect the rights of children.
In 2015, NGO "Magnolia" became a co-founder of The Ukrainian Child Rights Network. In November 2017, we joined to the European Federation 'Missing Children Europe'.
In the beginning of 2023 we developed new tools in Ukraine to combat violence and abuse against children and created the portal www.stopcrime.ua.
 

Hotline

With the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine, in the end of 2023 NGO “Magnolia” established INHOPE hotline in Ukraine.

Awareness centre

Our organisation is on the beginning stage of creation Safer Internet Center in Ukraine. We plan to build a partners network to conduct an awareness raising campaigns. NGOs that implement educational projects in Ukrainian schools, film clubs for young people, etc. will be included in the partners network. In addition, the leading mass media of Ukraine are involved in the awareness raising campaign.

Helpline

In Ukraine, there are several NGOs implementing helplines for children and parents. We are currently in negotiation process with them about a potential cooperation with the Safer Internet Center.

Youth participation

As for now, a Youth panel is at the creation stage. Our organisation plans to create a youth platform that will allow young people to express their views and exchange knowledge and experience on how to stay protected in the online space.
