The year 2024 has been characterised by changing communication patterns and limited opportunities to reach out to children and young people with information. It has also been a year in which ECPAT Sweden has seen increased complexity in the cases it handles, both within support activities and the hotline.

Point de Contact – Annual Report 2024

The reporting platform Point de Contact (part of the French Safer Internet Centre) has published its 2024 annual report on the volume of reports received and processed as well as on the trends observed in cybercrime. This report is also an opportunity to highlight the work carried out throughout the year 2024: activities, projects, developing partnerships, awareness-raising and strengthening its institutional positioning in France and abroad.

In 2024, the Finnish hotline received 8,615 reports of suspected child sexual abuse. Over 5,000 reports contained child sexual abuse material. Additionally, the hotline found more than 3,000 images or web addresses that contained child sexual abuse as part of its proactive work. Grooming or other activity related to child sexual abuse was contained in 74 reports.

The main objectives of this report are to map the presence of cybersecurity initiatives, programs and curricular content in secondary education in Portugal, to compare these practices with other other European Union (EU) countries in order to identify good practices and recommend ways to improve the integration of cybersecurity into school curricula.
