Every year, Child Focus observes an increase in cases related to disappearances and sexual exploitation of minors. In 2024, the organisation opened an average of five new runaway cases per day. These are five young people sending a strong signal that something is wrong in their lives. On the occasion of mental health week, Child Focus introduced a new prevention tool: the MAX-Box.

In the Danish digital helpline Cyberhus, counsellors meet with children and young people daily. They need, for various reasons, someone to talk to in a digital context. Sometimes, it may be young people in particularly vulnerable positions who need a trustworthy adult to confide in, or it may be young people simply seeking a sense of community with peers to reflect themselves in. Some young people come only once and find what they need – and then there are those who return repeatedly.

The Free and Safe Education Act is a new bill that aims to further strengthen social safety in Dutch education. This law is expected to come into effect on 1 August 2026 and requires primary, secondary, and special education schools in the Netherlands to implement and actively maintain a social safety policy, including designated roles for bullying reporting and coordination. It also mandates schools to monitor students' perceptions of safety and well-being using valid tools to prevent and address incidents like bullying and aggression.
