Today, the Insafe and INHOPE networks are meeting in Warsaw, Poland, to explore areas of common ground and opportunities for closer working between helplines, hotlines, and awareness centres in a two-day training meeting. It is also an opportunity to discuss a range of online safety issues, including deep nudes, sextortion, gender-based violence and adult content, and consider the challenges that are likely to face Safer Internet Centres in the future.

The Insafe network meets to discuss the Digital Services Act (DSA) and AI at the Insafe Training meeting
Today, another edition of the bi-annual Insafe Training meeting kicks off. The event is an opportunity for the Insafe network of European Safer Internet Centres (SICs) to meet to facilitate the sharing of experience and good practices between network countries, to explore areas of common ground, and opportunities for closer working between awareness raising, helpline, and youth participation strands. The October 2023 Insafe Training meeting is held online, and includes three mornings of sessions on exploring the opportunities and challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Insafe booth at IGF 2023: Promoting a Better Internet for Kids and Safer Internet Day 2024
At the IGF 2023 event, which took place in Kyoto from 8-12 October 2023, the Insafe delegation hosted a promotional booth in the IGF village, promoting the annual Safer Internet Day (SID) campaign and Better Internet for Kids (BIK) activities. The booth was a focal point for engaging discussions with conference participants worldwide.
Towards more inclusive youth participation activities: Insafe delegation presents best practices at IGF 2023
At the 18th annual meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) held in Kyoto, Japan from 8-12 October 2023, the European network of Safer Internet Centres (SIC) contributed with a workshop on Day 0, titled Youth participation: co-creating the Insafe network. In the second part of the workshop, organised by the Insafe Coordinator in collaboration with the Belgian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese and UK Safer Internet Centres, a special focus was given to empowering of young people and the inclusion of children and young people in vulnerable situations.

The Insafe network of helplines collects data about the types of calls received and this is analysed every three months in order to look at possible trends and emerging issues. Since April 2023, helplines have been using an updated set of categories to log contacts against. The new categories were agreed upon following extensive consultation and discussion with the helpline network. The work was led by a helpline working group who spent considerable time determining the changes that needed to be made.
Insafe delegation kicks off IGF 2023 with Day 0 event on youth participation
This year’s Internet Governance Forum (IGF), the 18th annual edition, is hosted by the Government of Japan in Kyoto from 8-12 October 2023 under the Forum's overarching theme: The internet we want - empowering all people. The Insafe network of Safer Internet Centres in Europe contributed with a Day 0 event focusing on youth empowerment and participation, including children and young people from vulnerable backgrounds.

Today, the Insafe network of European Safer Internet Centres (SICs) meets for another edition of the bi-annual training meeting. This event is an opportunity to facilitate sharing of experience and good practices between network countries, to explore areas of common ground, and opportunities for closer working between awareness raising, helpline, and youth participation strands. For the first time since the pandemic, the training meeting is being held face-to-face in Brussels, Belgium.
