This guide was designed to provide advice, legal guidelines, and recommendations based on official resources in order to encourage responsible and secure behaviour in both the personal and professional use of digital tools.

Child Focus developed this tool for the Safer Internet Day 2014. The “Safer Internet Day Quiz” aimed at all classrooms from 5th and 6th primary school. Students are asked to reply to the quiz regarding e-safety with 10 questions related to social mediaz, webcam, right of image, privacy and personal information, cyberbullying, etc. at the end, tips and tricks are given for the students and the teacher.

The Child Focus helpline is receiving more and more cases of 'sexting gone wrong' (or secundary sexting). Therefore we created an educational video for youngsters, introducing the the grandma rule: don't post / share any content online that you don't want to see in a frame at you grandma's.

Child Focus decided to focus this year's edition of the Safer Internet Day on sextortion, an upcoming issue where teens are meeting a new 'hot' contact online and are quickly asked to get undressed in front of their webcam if they want to see more of their new friend... unfortunately, once the video has been made, the teenager is asked to pay a large amount of money or the video will be shared amongst his or her friends and family. Unfortunately, the blackmailing does not stop even if the payment is made.

iRespect is a tool concerning online privacy, developed for teachers to work with students between 10 and 14 years old. Because of the extensive research made and its inclusive character, the tool can be perfectly implemented in special education schools of type 1 and 8 (mental and learling disability). The package contains a DVD with 10 short interactive and visual prevention clips, enabling teachers to work creatively on online privacy. Every clip has a didactic slip, offering teachers the necessary knowhow and pedagogic points to get started.

The intention of this course is for students to know and apply safety and security measures for protecting their personal data in digital environments, understand how to use and share personal information securely in digital environments, be aware of online risks regarding their personal data and know-how to prevent and deal with them, manage their digital identity (digital footprint) critically and responsibly, and implement effective ways of managing and handling sexting incidents.

The web portal Internet Safety https://internetsafety.pi.ac.cy/kids includes a repository of rich educational / information material, resources and tools for children, teachers and parents in order to help them use the digital and internet technologies in a safe and creative way. Especially, the website provides information and a learning space for ethical and useful use of the internet (possibilities and risks). In addition, the website provides interactive games, videos, as well as other informative resources, including materials developed by children themselves.
