Better Internet for Kids

This constantly growing collection of teaching examples provides teachers with suggestions on how they can work on various digital topics with their students. Teaching examples on the topics of AI and internet fraud are currently available. These provide teachers with input on how they can actively use new tools such as ChatGPT and discuss them with their students and how they can sensitise young people to internet fraud, phishing, malware and fake shops.

During the webinars, representatives of this panel participated alongside adult experts. Each session was hosted by Kasia Rodek from Radio Kampus, which sponsored these events.

1. Talking about Relationships - aired on 22.11.2022:
Addressing the impact of online relationships on school relationships among students and between students and teachers. It also discusses the issues related to the use of screen devices in school, covering the benefits and problems arising from different approaches (lack of regulations, clearly defined rules of use, total prohibition).

Cyber criminals try to enter and cause damage to your phone or computer in multiple ways. For instance through hacking, phishing or ransomware. But, you can protect yourself!
The five videos explain the risks, what to do and how to protect yourself against cybercrime. With every video a small summary is added with some extra information and what steps to take.

ScamCheck is the Dutch version of a tool developed by ScamAdviser. This tool can be accessed through our website Veiliginternetten.nl. By making this tool available in the Netherlands, we collectively ensure a safer Internet. Consumers can enter a link and are shown the probability that a website is trustworthy or looks like scam, phishing or malware.

On the Internet, you may encounter people who have no real influence on your daily life, you can even benefit from the Internet, maybe you are given chances and opportunities....

Unfortunately being active on the Internet also comes with some danger, concerning you or even others.
This guide offers some advice, tips and tricks to protect yourself from the daily risks on the Internet.

A Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) of three individual modules for students aiming to educate them for a safer and better internet. The content of this MOOC are the topics of cyber-hygiene, personal data, and cyberbullying.

The game contains 57 symbols that represent terms from the field of information technology and cyber security. The meaning of all terms is briefly explained in the attached glossary. For example, children will learn what digital footprint, hoax, cyber grooming is, but also why they should regularly update software or use an antivirus program. Next, they will get acquainted with Safer Internet Day. It is also good to know that children can always turn to our Safety Line project partner with confidence.

“#Flashtag” adapted tool for a larger target group (from 10 to 14 year old)

The game “Le juste click” is one of the most demanded/ordered educational tools of Child Focus. There is a lot of interest in working on all the themes related to 'e-safety'. Internet and social media is a world where everything changes quickly. The digital world is no longer a separate world for children and young people, it is their global environment. Media literacy is also gaining in importance within the learning programmemes in education.
