Respectful Conduct is a training resource for school staff who want to prevent harassment and abusive behaviour in online games, game chats, and other digital environments.
For many children, games and online chats are important spaces for social interaction, collaboration, and play. At the same time, inappropriate language, hostile comments, and abusive behaviour can have a significant impact on those who are subjected to them.
Safer Internet Day 2024 in Latvia
On Safer Internet Day 2024, Latvian pupils from grades 10-12 participated in the nationwide online quiz "Mind Games" on various aspects of internet safety. 317 teams from different Latvian schools and regions took part in the quiz, competing to test their knowledge about digital literacy, cyber security and media literacy jointly exploring more on topics such as privacy risks as well as the importance of respectful online communication and relationships.

The resource was created in response to a call for proposals from the French Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah and it aims to raise awareness of hate speech, specifically online.
Tackling offensive online behaviour
In The Netherlands, Media Literacy Week 2023 (celebrated from 10 – 17 November) has come to an end. For an entire week, numerous network partners reflected on dealing with offensive behaviour online under the banner #hierniet (not here). Hundreds of entities endorsed the #hierniet initiative, with activities taking place across the country. Furthermore, almost 190,000 students participated in the MediaMasters serious game as part of the campaign actions.

The Respect Effect is a new anti-bullying educational resource that aims to empower Irish students to recognise and act against online bullying through their positive actions and behaviours and help create an anti-bullying school environment.
Record number of activities organised in Latvia to celebrate Safer Internet Day 2023
On Safer Internet Day (SID) 2023 schools, libraries and youth centres in Latvia were invited to raise awareness of a better internet for kids and safer internet usage among children. Anyone could join and get involved in SID activities on 7 February, and throughout the month of February 2023, by organising educational events and activities on internet safety in their counties, cities, municipalities and villages, involving children, young people and parents.
